Science Unites ALL

Europe has been witnessing a rapid increase of scientific developments,innovation and creation in 21st century and transforming into one of the largest and leading scientific hubs of the world in terms of scientific production and activities.However,the pace of science and technology production is not equally distributed all over the Europe and there are still serious gaps among countries concerning to the rate of scientific research and development activities.Moreover,all outcomes of this excellence and developments in science still cannot be instrumentalised enough to totally eliminate some serious social problems in the European societies.While this project pursues the general philosophy and goal of the European Researchers’ Night scheme as to provide a platform for bringing researchers and publictogether and motivate young people for a scientific career pathways,it also aims to emphasize on how scientific activities and developments can contribute to uniting European society at national and international level by raising awareness on the power of science for social cohesion,dialogue and also individual development. Stemming from this general rationale,all activities of the“Science Unites All”(SCI-ALL) Researchers’ Night are constructed on four main themes.These are:(i)Science unites generations,(elderly people, young people and all adult groups);(ii)science unites cultures;(iii)science unites genders;(iv)science unites stakeholders(research institutions and academia, research and development units of the companies, non-governmental organizations working on scientific development and social media settings that disseminate the scientific knowledge). Specific aims of SCI-ALL Night can be listed as: • to increase awareness among society of the added value of the scientific activities and projects by demonstrating examples which reflect on their lives • to open up young peoples’ horizons by enhancing their interest and knowledge on the extensiveness and excellence of the scientific activities through using methodologies with fun and non-formal learning techniques • to emphasize how research and science transcends race, ethnicity, culture and gender and address the needs and interests of the all groups and can bring different groups together • to create a collaborative environment for researchers from different backgrounds and from different disciplines • to reach disadvantaged groups especially disabled people, migrant students and NEETs (Not Education, Employment or Training) to show them the benefits of science and research • to inspire young people for choosing science and research as a career pathway and to encourage them for engaging in research and project activities during their education • to demonstrate how scientific activities and research activities develop and boost intercultural interaction and break down the prejudices or stereotypes by emphasizing the importance of science diplomacy and joint research culture • to raise awareness about the opportunities in the European Research Area and available support schemes of the EU by gathering students, young people and young researchers together with the experienced researchers who have involved in EU projects and programmes; also to disseminate the results of their projects to the public
