GLOBAL_AT_VENICE - Research and Training for Global Challenges Cofund Fellowship Programme

The Global at Venice Research and Training for Global Challenges gave 16 talented researchers from all over the world the opportunity to undertake their 24 months research and training activity at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice. The programme’s aim was to attract the best possible candidates, deepen and develop their knowledge and competencies in order to improve and sharpen their employability on the job market both in the academic and non-academic world, and to extend and strengthen their professional network. Fellows had the opportunity to complete secondments, bridging the gap between academic and applied research, and between research and market. The programme was open to all nationalities and to researchers within eight years from finishing their PhD Degree.

Project objective

The Global at Venice - Research and Training for Global Challenges is a new 60-month Cofund Fellowship Programme implemented by Ca’ Foscari University of Venice (UNIVE) that aims at exploiting the full potential of UNIVE’s and its strategic partners to offer to 15 Fellows a truly international, interdisciplinary and inter-sectoral training.The G@V programme will strengthen the Fellows’ curricula, providing Europe and the world with a pool of researchers capable of bridging the gaps between academic and applied research, and between research to market. In 2014 UNIVE launched an ambitious Strategic Plan aimed to boost its position to become a leading research-intensive university. Huge investments together with a radical mind-shift led to the following initiatives:·2014: BRAIN GRAIN programme ·2015: CAREERS+ programme ·2016: HRS4R - Human Resources Strategy for Researchers label·2016: LAB programmeRESULTS 2014-2019: UNIVE is now a top Host Institution with more than 60 Marie Skłodowska Curie Individual Fellowship awarded, 10 ERC grantees, 97 H2020 projects worth over €27M so far.In 2019 UNIVE set up 6 Research for Global Challenges Institutes to promote an interdisciplinary, challenge based and mission oriented approach to research: 1 Research Institute for Complexity 2 Research Institute for Digital and Cultural Heritage3 Research Institute for Social Innovation4 Research Institute for Cross Cultural Relations5 Research Institute for Green and Blue Growth 6 Research Institute for Innovation ManagementThe key features of the G@V - Research and Training for Global Challenges Cofund Fellowship Programme – are:- 15 Fellowships lasting 24 months;- interdisciplinary research within the Research for Global Challenges Institutes;- excellent research training paths with top supervisors;- connection to UNIVE innovation ecosystem; - outstanding career opportunities ;- attractive working conditions;- a 2.362.000€ budget, more than 50% on own resources
