Project objective
"CELEBRATE 2.0 – Two Decades of STEAM-Powered Inspiration"" marks the 20th anniversary of the European Researchers’ Night (ERN) in Cyprus, coordinated by the Research and Innovation Foundation (RIF). Building on two decades of successful ERN implementation, the project will bring researchers closer to citizens through interactive, inclusive and creative activities that showcase the impact of EU-funded research and innovation (R&I) on daily life and inspire engagement of younger generations with the STEAM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics).Two large-scale ERN events will be organised on the last Friday of September 2026 & 2027, complemented by pre- and post-events. More than 5.000 visitors, 400 researchers and 60 Stakeholder Organisations / Exhibitors will participate annually in the ERN activities, combining an interactive exhibition, hands-on experiments, science shows, games and student competitions, designed to make researchers’ work accessible, tangible and exciting.Through the ""Researchers at Schools"" Initiative, over 100 school visits will be organised each year on the occasion of five World Days linked to STEAM fields, enabling pupils and educators to interact directly with researchers, explore societal challenges and discover the key role of R&I in addressing them.A vibrant communication campaign - featuring the event’s mascots Brainy and Genie - will ensure strong national visibility and EU-wide branding, highlighting the European dimension of the activities, promoting gender balance, diversity and inclusiveness, and encouraging young people to pursue STEAM-related careers. Building on RIF’s proven experience, its established collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth, and an extensive network of key R&I stakeholders, CELEBRATE 2.0 will strengthen public trust in science, enhance researchers’ communication skills, and celebrate two decades of connecting creativity, research and society in Cyprus.""
