Project objective

Digital Bridges: Science, Media, Society (DiBS) strengthens the connection between science and citizens in the Western Balkans -Kosovo, Montenegro, and Albania, by using digital technologies, multimedia tools, and creative communication formats to make science visible, accessible, and engaging for all. DiBS project is grounded in the conviction that digital transformation and multimedia innovation can redefine how citizens engage with science. It envisions a society where research is not confined to laboratories or academic institutions, but where every citizen, regardless of language, location, or background, can understand, question, and contribute to scientific dialogue.DiBS proposes a new, inclusive model of regional cooperation that connects science, education, and digital culture into one integrated system. The project builds bridges of knowledge and communication between researchers, teachers, pupils, and citizens through digital platforms, creative media, and participatory learning formats. By integrating European Researchers’ Night (ERN) and Researchers at Schools (RaS) into a unified digital ecosystem, DiBS will transform how researchers interact with society and how young people discover scientific careers. The project promotes inclusiveness, multilingualism, and digital participation across diverse communities, particularly in rural and underrepresented areas. The DiBS Connect platform and Balkan Science Bridge video magazine will serve as central hubs for multilingual online communication, featuring live-streamed events, short films, podcasts, and virtual exhibitions in English, Serbian, Albanian, and Montenegrin. Through 10 central ERN events, 30 rural mini-ERNs, and 100 RaS school activities, the project will bring science to classrooms and communities. By fostering cooperation among universities, local authorities, companies, and media, the project will establish the first tri-national ERN-RaS model in the Western Balkans.
