Project objective
LABWISE (Living and Bridging Schools for Innovation, Sustainability, and Education) aims to bridge the gap between research, education, and society by creating dynamic interactions between researchers, pupils, teachers, and citizens. The project seeks to strengthen public trust in science, stimulate interest in research careers among young people, and enhance the visibility of research as a driver for sustainability and innovation.The initiative will implement two complementary pillars:The European Researchers’ Night (ERN) – an annual open event showcasing the societal impact of research through interactive activities, science shows, exhibitions, and citizen-science experiences.The Researchers at Schools Initiative – an ongoing programme connecting researchers with schools to co-create learning experiences around sustainability, innovation, and responsible research.Through these activities, LABWISE will train researchers in science communication and inclusive engagement, promote gender equality and diversity in STEAM fields, and ensure equitable access to science education, especially for underrepresented and rural communities. By transforming schools into “living labs,” the project will foster local innovation ecosystems that connect universities, NGOs, and public institutions.Aligned with the MSCA and Citizens Work Programme, LABWISE contributes to enhancing the attractiveness of research careers, strengthening science-society dialogue, and supporting the European Green Deal and Digital Education Action Plan. Its outcomes will contribute to a more inclusive, participatory, and sustainable European Research Area (ERA) where science is open and accessible to all.
