Project objective
BIO-ACTIVE establishes a truly cross-disciplinary framework that unites biotechnology, materials science, energy harvesting, sensing technologies, and artificial intelligence into a single, self-improving platform for regenerative and climate-resilient agriculture. Bringing together 11 beneficiaries across 9 countries, the project’s overarching mission is to train 12 Doctoral Candidates capable of driving Europe’s transition toward digitally enabled, biologically grounded, and resource-efficient farming systems.Through a tightly integrated research and training programme, BIO-ACTIVE combines cutting-edge scientific development with structured doctoral education to maximize impact across academia, industry, and policy. The initiative is organized into five interlinked Specific Objectives, fully aligned with the EU Green Deal, Soil Mission, Circular Bioeconomy, and Digital Europe, and embedded directly into the mobility and skill-building pathways of all recruited DCs. Each DC will undertake approximately nine months of cross-sectoral secondments, ensuring substantial exposure to complementary scientific, industrial, and regulatory environments.
