Project objective
The study of patterns and waves at fluid interfaces, and that of moving interfaces is a fast developping field embracing fluid physics and non-equilibrium phenomena. I propose to study, mostly experimentally, : (i) the spreading of a liquid on a 'real'solid surface, i.e on a rough, chemically heterogeneous surface with the liquid front being deformable as it moves, and (ii) the wavy motions at liquid surfaces or fronts as surface active materials change the interfacial tension and generate interfacially - driven flow (MARSNGONI EFFECT).
