Project objective
The project will develop a method for testing the reliability of mathematical models of chemical processes and generate software for applying it lo industrial problems of economic and environmental significance. To secure increased productivity and product quality by the use of models, engineers must have confidence in the accuracy and reliability of those models. The 'distortion method' was introduced by the nuclear industry, and further developed by the applicant, as a means of testing models. The outcomes of the project will be: ? new results which demonstrate that the 'distortion method' can be applied to a wide range of problems relevant to the chemicals sector, ? software to enable industrial engineers to use the method; ? demonstration of the application of the method to three sample processes; ? transfer of expertise in the use of the method to engineers at the University of Valladolid; ? consolidation of Trans-European links.
