Regional economic disparities in the European Mediterranean regions - special attention to the Spanish case

Project objective

The objectives of the project I want to develop at the European Economic and Social Cohesion Laboratory can be summarised as follows: * measuring and gauging the level of the economic inequalities in the European Mediterranean regions, * analysing the evolution of these inequalities along the time. looking for a decreasing in their level (economic convergence), * settling the factors that could determine the levels of regional economic development and those that can favour or brake a significant regional convergence process in this area (inside it and in relation to the rest of the Community). In order to achieve these objectives, different inequality coefficients will be computed and different approaches to economic convergence analysis will be carried out. I hope the results of the analysis reveal the level of economic cohesion inside the European Mediterranean regions and between this area and other European territories, and their possible evolution.
