Project objective
The project concerns the design and experimentation of an Underwater Lidar Camera (ULC). The goal of the ULC is to study both the sea bed and the water column. This modular equipment will associate inside a tow fish a Q-switched Nd YAG-laser and an intensified gated camera. Two different configurations will allow to carry out range gating imaging using polarisation parameter (sea bed imaging) or fluorescence measurements (water column study). Inside the project, I will be more concerned with the two following parts: - Polarisation labelling: A complete study concerning the various means to recognize underwater targets using polarisation parameter will be carried out - Fluorescence measurements: I will have to study the following parameters: * phytobenthos bed * dissolved and suspended substances * phytoplancton and algae Laboratory trials will allow to select some methods which will then be validated by sea campaigns.
