Project objective
The general issue underlying my research project is whether quantum groups can be used to generalize the notion of symmetry transformations (either of spacetime or of internal degrees of freedom) in quantum field theory. Quantum group transfor- mations have already been implemented on some examples of quantum mechanical systems having a fixed number n > 1 of distinct particles. The main objective of my research project and collaboration is to find the general prescription to imple- ment quantum group transformations: I) on systems of identical particles; 2) on field operators to be introduced in second quantization. We would develop some breakthrough ideas (obtained in a very recent work of mine with Dr. P. Schupp), which allow to solve the apparent incompatibility of quantum group coproduct with Bose/Fermi statistics. Applications to physically relevant quantum group trans- formations such as deformed Poincari. Euclidean or internal (flavour) su(n) could follow.
