Measuring the social and economic efficiency of cross-border co-operation networks

Project objective

This proposal research is entitled Measuring the social and economic efficiency of cross-border co-operation networks; human geography on networks based on political and economic sociability". It will analyse the economic and geographical strategies of cities and regions within a strong European integration area, located in North West Europe between London and Paris. On both sides of the Channel, cities and regions are developing links and setting up common structures such as GE, city networks, Euro-regions or regional joint-ventures. The proposal, a continuation of doctoral research on the Atlantic Arc, will examine in detail the workings of the networks and the territorial strategies established in the Cross-Channel area. It will in particular analyse the processes of their emergence and assess their real efficiency within a supra-national context. The research falls within the Cross-Channel Atlas project jointly by the Universities of Caen and Portsmouth and the INSEE Institute. "
