Project objective

Since the Autumn 1994, I am working at a Ph. D. under the supervision of Pierre PANSU, professor at the University of Paris-Sud. My work consists on understanding better the theorem of compactness of pseudo- holomorphic curves, showed by Cremor in his 1985 paper. Another aspect is to understand the associated modular space and its compactification. Moreover, a generalization of the compactness result to solution of Cremor's elliptic equations in two variables, which should appear as the most general elliptic equations of surface in 4-manifold, is expected. Recently, C.Taubes related pseudoholomorphic curves in 4-dimension to solution of Seiberg-Willen's equation. His approach to pseudoholomorphic curves as zero sets of functions has been fruitful and might lead to result for my research. Professor Salomon, who works around Seiberg-Willem invariants, sympletic geometry and J-holomorphic curves, had the kindness to accept to supervise my work. I would be delighted to continue my thesis research in Warwick.
