Application of transfer operators to dynamical systems

Project objective

Transfer operators appear in the examination of the geodesic flow of compact Riemannian manifolds of negative curvature and more generally axiom A-systems which model systems in both classical and quantum mechanics. Their spectral properties can be related to the analytical ones of Fredholm- determinates and S-functions which are defined by the unstable periodic orbits of the system. I am trying to study the theory of transfer operators, which is up to now understood the best for low dimensional systems, in the higher dimensional case.
