Project objective
A proper understanding of complex behaviour in dynamical systems is still lacking. However, work on nonlinear systems have demonstrated that apparently complex processes can have simple origins and provide a variety of paradigms. - The objective of this project is to develop and investigate a model of a driven granular system. The model will be based on an experiment in which a transition from a critical behaviour into a non-critical behaviour is observed as a function of a relevant control parameter. In driven granular system, avalanches constantly modify the slope and thus create a dynamical medium disorder that changes all the time. - The aim is to explore the relevance of introducing dynamical disorder into dynamical models of e.g. 1/f noise.
