Project objective
The aim of this project is the preparation and characterization of electrocatalytic oxide electrodes for the oxygen and/or chlorine evolution reaction, with long service life under extreme conditions. The DSA preparation technique, acquired during my post-doctorate training in France, will be transferred to the host laboratory. Electrocatalytic electrodes having a valve" metal substrate, covered with oxides of precious metals or mixture of oxides, particularly IrO2, Ru02, Ta205, PtOx, SnO2 will be fabricated. Special attention will be paid to the study of the influence of the base metal (Ti, Ta or their alloys) to the electrode stability and electrochemical performance. Several oxides or mixtures of them will also be tested as electrode materials. The fabricated electrodes will be tested as oxygen and/or chlorine evolving anodes, especially in the cases of cathodic protection and wastewater treatment. Collaboration with greek industries using DSA anodes will also be established. "
