Project objective
GEOCHEMICAL PARAMETERS FOR EVALUATION OF PETROLEUM RESOURCES The aim of this project is to analyse both general and more special geochemical data in a geological context related to petroleum exploration. Multivariate analysis will be used to explore the large amounts of data in an efficient manner and to improve the reliability of the analysis. The project includes some specialised chemical analysis of porphyrins which will be evaluated and correlated together with the conventional geochemical data. The objective is to find optimal parameters for source maturity description, reservoir oil correlation and biodegradation indicators. Extensively described samples of oils and source rocks are provided by Elf Aquitaine. The project will be done at Elf Aquitaine's research center in Pau (France) in cooperation with French and Norwegian universities.
