Project objective

Research objectives and content Simple one-dimensional frustrated systems and systems with infinite-range interactions will be considered as starting models in order to study the competition of frustration and disorder. This will give insight for more realistic systems. The low temperature dynamics of classically frustrated antiferromagnets will be studied, in the anharmonic approximation. The derived approximate theory will be tested with Molecular Dynamics Simulation. Theoretical predictions will be Yelated to recent neutron and muon scattering experiments. The effect of quantum fluctuations will be studied as well. Training content (objective, benefit and expected impact) The proposed study is expected to have serious scientific impact. The applicant wilX gain knowledge and experience in a new area for him. This will be transferred to the less favoured region" of Greece after the completion of the project. "
