Project objective
Research objectives and content This research is concerned by the influence of the interfacial fibre-matrix bond on the performance of Steel Fibre Reinforced Concrete (SFRC). Notched beams are subjected to third-point bend tests. An array of fibres aligned along the beam lenght is placed in the plane of the notch. The interfacial bond strength is altered through an adequate treatment of the fibre surface influence on the macroscopic behaviour of SFRC is nevertheless difficult to measure, given the unavoidable experimental scaner. A better understanding of the observed behaviours can be achieved by simulating the loadZeflection plots. The numerical model must assign different properties to the interfacial bond strength, as to reproduce the influence of the surface treatments Training content (objective, benefit and expected impact) To understand the interfacial bond between fibre and matrix, a detailed analysis of the bond-zone must be realised. The lattice model, developed at the TU Delft, allows such an analysis, although it has never been used for SFRC. The objectives of the requested training are to expand the lattice model to the case of SFRC and to compare simulation with experimental measurements. To be surrounded by people, whose daily task is numerical simulation. and to be given access to the lattice model, represents a true benefit.
