Project objective

As part of the bio-organometallic chemistry theme initiated by the host laboratory, the research project main objective will consist in evaluating the contribution of some transition metal organo-complexes to the crucial domains that are both the structural analysis of proteins and the medical radio-imaging application. In both cases, the biological vehicle must be labelled with a metal or a metallic derivative (radioactive or not). Till now, there have been just a few examples in which the metal was included in an oraganometallic complex. Nevertheless, the benefits accounted from this type of metallic derivative are numerous (stability, large variety of metals, richness of chemistry). In order to overcome the difficulties associated with the chemical nature of proteins, it is considered to derive benefit from a novel organometallic reaction to modify the target biomolecules selectively, while making sure that their biological activity will be maintained.
