Project objective
Research objectives and content The objectives and content of this project are: 1) to perform an experiment to investigate hot electrons generation and transport (when an intense laser beam interacts with plasma) by using the technique of Ka x-ray spectroscopy. Moreover we plan to measure the temperature of hot electron heated region by taking advantage from time resolved K-shell spectroscopy. 2) to perform an experiment with the aim of obtaining scaling laws giving the suprathermal temperature as a function of laser intensity, plasma density and gradient lenght. The electron temperature will be measured directly with a magnetic spectrometer. The plasma parameters will be modified by varying the time duration between the creation pulse and the interaction pulse and the energy of the first one. 3) to realise news models for hot electron transport. This work will be based around the using of hydrodynamic codes. Training content (objective, benefit and expected impact) The priority objective is to give an important contribution for fast ignitor field and consequently a big benefit for Inertial Confinement Fusion research.
