Project objective
The resurrection plantCraterostigma plantagineum is used as a model system for the molecular study of desiccation tolerance. Abscisic acid is one element triggering the tranduction pathway leading to plant-responses and dessication tolerance. Recently, a T-DNA tagging strategy has been used on Craterostigma, in order to identify intermediates in the abscisic acid signalling pathway. One gene (cDT-1) has been isolated, its overexpression leads to a regulatory RNA. The aim of this project is to investigate the mechanism of cDT-1 action: - to identify the active part of cDT-1, deletions of this gene will be constructed and introduced in Craterostigma. - to check if the effect of cDT-l could occurs in different species, these constructions will be tested in Arabidopsis thaliana. - a cDT-1 homologue in Arabidopsis will be isolated and studied. - the interaction of cDT-1 product with its target will be investigated.
