Project objective

Research objectives and contentThe objectives of the project are to develop a concept for innovation policy in transition countries. As the features of the industries and of their supporting innovation system changes dramatically because of the transition process the necessary changes within the enterprises requires a lot of management know-how out organizational innovations corresponding to the technological ones. The project results will show how policy makers can contribute to this adaptation process of the industrial enterprises and which kinds of knowledge they need in order to find the appropriate policy means. Training content (objective, benefit and expected impact) Whereas I have already worked on innovation systems in transition as well as on an industry life-cycle model where the market-entry and survival chances of East European firms in interregional markets are analysed, the research project applied for would give me the opportunity to analyse policy in transforming innovation systems. Prof. Metcalfe who is the director of the host institution and who will be the supervisor of the project applied for is proved to be an expert in the field of evolutionary innovation policy. Relevance of proposal to the innovation policy of the European CommunityThe expected results of the project are relevant to the innovation policy of the European Community in two respects:First, the conclusions drawn for innovation policy can be used as a concept for every country.Second, it contributes to the conception for the enlargement of the European Community and its implications for innovation policy.
