Project objective
MARIE CURIE TRAINING SITE Breast Cancer: Molecular Risk Factors, Drug Response, Non-Response and Toxicity The Dr. Margarete Fischer Bosch Institute of Clinical Pharmacology (IKP) Stuttgart in cooperation with the Eberhard Karls Universitaet Tübingen, Germany invites applications for up to six positions at the PhD training level. We are seeking individuals with research interests in the molecular origin of breast cancer and elucidation of drug response, non-response and toxicity in systemic breast cancer therapy. The goals of IKP are the understanding of metabolisms of drugs and drug effects as well as the molecular origin of cancer. In particular IKP fosters interdisciplinary, collaborative research at the interface of basic, clinical and population sciences in an effort to improve prevention and treatment of breast cancer. Additional information can be found at http://www.ikp-stuttgart.de IKP is a state-of-the-art basic and clinical research facility committed to provide outstanding core facilities in support of molecular genetic and clinical pharmacological research. IKP is affiliated with the University of Tuebingen (45 km) which can be easily reached by public transportation. Together they offer active graduate student programs as well as exceptional opportunities for interdisciplinary scientific interactions with other investigators at academic institutions and industry. Candidates must have substantial training in a subject related to medicine or molecular biology. Strong quantitative and analytical skills will be required as well as strong communication skills. Basic knowledge in molecular genetics and genomics will be an asset but not mandatory Training language will be English. Contracts of up to 12 months of doctoral studies funded by the European Union are available from the beginning of the year 2002. IKP is committed to equal opportunity and affirmative action.
