Project objective
The effects of changing the temporal variance an mean intensity of disturbances will be evaluated in macroalgal assemblages of rocky shores. The study will provide information for predictive models and the effects of climate changes The benefit and impact of the training will be in terms of increased experience in methods and logic to test hypotheses about changes in variance in ecological processes. The experimental procedures required to disentangle mean effects from their variance are an interesting new area of research on its own. Moreover, this project will provide valuable clues about the responses of coastal assemblages to global changes, constituting a new and remarkably interesting field of study for the applicant
