Mathematics and scientific computing for technology and research

Project objective

The Eindhoven Centre for Computational Engineering (ECCE) of the Eindhoven University of Technology invites graduate students from member states or associated states of the European Union to participate in a Marie Curie training programme on Mathematics And Scientific computing for Technology and Research (MASTER). In ECCE experts in applied analysis, scientific computing and mathematical engineering are co-operating in research and education. During a six-month stay the trainee will have the opportunity to do research on one or more parts of the chain: modeling of problems from engineering, their mathematical analysis, numerical simulation and design. Besides, there will be possibilities to follow advanced courses by internationally renowned teachers. Industry needs well-trained mathematicians, who can understand and translate the problems from engineering into mathematically relevant terms, assess their complexity and know to find ways to tackle the problems. This requires a solid mathematical knowledge, an ability to understand the physics and to communicate with the engineering community. There is also a need for engineers trained in using mathematical tools and thus the tailor-made training programme will also be open to mathematically interested engineers. Fellowships are available in the following areas : mathematics of materials, combustion, porous mediaeletrical circuits, dynamics and control. The fellows will be embedded in a multidisciplinary environment, with daily contact to mathematicians, engineers and people from industry. The Eindhoven University of Technology offers excellent housing facilities for temporary guests.
