Project objective
Applications are invited for post-graduate positions. The Fellows will be based at the University of Milan, Department of Physical Chemistry and Electrochemistry, Electrochemical Laboratory. Milano is located in an economically live area, thus providing the opportunity of stimulating contacts. A wide choice of research themes is available, summarized under the following general subjects: electrocatalysis and electrode materials; organic electrosynthesis; colloid and surface science; corrosion; environmental electrochemistry; transport phenomena in conducting media; electroanalysis; equilibrium electrochemistry. Within each general subject the research will focus on selected topics, the complete and updated list of which can be obtained at the ECSE site: http://users.unimi.it/ecse or by e-mail to ecse@unimi.it. A selection of the currently available topics is listed here below: Composite materials for hydrogen evolution electrodes Electro catalysis on silver for organic halide electro reductions Mixed oxide electrodes for oxygen evolution Air cathodes for power sources Properties and applications of boron-doped electrodes Surface acid-base properties of electro catalytic oxides Electro reductions for bioconversion precursors Physico-chemical studies on microcrystalline cellulose for pharmaceutical applications Sol-gel techniques for the preparation of tailored dispersed materials Adsorption of ionic and non-ionic surfactants at the liquid-liquid and solid-liquid interface Mechanisms of corrosion processes and inhibitor efficiencies in aqueous media Electrolytic processes for detoxification of wastes Liquid junction potentials in mixed aqueous/organic solvents Self-assembled-monolayer modified electrodes for voltammetric sensors pH and rH standardization in mixed aqueous/organic solvents Ionic solvation sheaths in mixed aqueous/organic solvents Applicants for the post-graduate position should hold a degree in chemistry, industrial chemistry or chemical engineering.
