Specific immune defense of humans and animals

Project objective

Postgraduate and PhD students ( veterinarians, molecular biologists and immunologists) are invited to apply for a 10 - 12 months research fellowship in Immunology. The fellowship is on cellular immunology and animal or human diseases (and experimental models). It contains theoretical courses on immunology, vaccines and immunogenetics, attendance of seminars on immunology and participation in the current research programs of the department and in house training in all technologies of cellular and molecular immunology. These technologies comprise: T cell culture and cloning, T cell proliferation and cytolysis assays, in vivo animal experimentation (rat and mouse ), FACS analysis and sorting, intracellular cytokine stainings, PCR cloning, peptide synthesis, analysis of antigen specific T cells with MHC-peptide multimers, production of hybridomas and monoclonal antibodies, protein expression and purification, MHC typing. The research performed will be in one of the following areas:a. The T lymphocyte as the regulator of the immune response (vaccines and immunotherapies of infection, cancer and autoimmune diseases);b. Identification and functional characterization of MHC molecules and other membrane molecules in the immune response;c. Immunopathogenesis and immuno modulation of various diseases in cattle, horses and companion animals. All activities in the department are English spoken.
