Project objective
Theoretical research on charge correlation in low dimensional systems Correlation between strongly interacting equally charged particles (e.g. electrons, colloids, dusty plasma's, DNA, charged liquid membranes, acting, cells, viruses, charged micelles) are of fundamental importance in condensed matter physics and also in chemical and biological systems. A diverse number of theoretical techniques are used to incorporate/describe the strong correlation between particles which maybe quantum or classical. Central in this study is that such correlation leads to a Wigner lattice type of arrangement of particles. Depending on the strength of correlation it leads to: correlated screening, charge inversion, which is due to over screening, and has implications for self-assembly of charged colloidal and biological objects.
