Project objective
Applicants are invited for fellowship of 6 months duration for a project to study theoretical and practical aspects of resistance and friction welding of metals. The Resistance Welding Research Groups engaged both in the technology of resistance welding and friction welding technology. Now it deals with research works into welding of difficult to weld materials. The Research Group has research stations equipped with modern operation and control systems of welding processes that enable record and processing of parameters. The Research Group has on its disposal a thermal- and stress-strain cycle simulator and the newest computers and computers aid programmes to conduct theoretical research (FEM analysis). Doctoral student during training at Research Group in Instytut Spawalnictwa will have opportunity to: study the newest technological solutions in the area of control and inspection of metal resistance welding processes, learn theoretical problems connected with selection and modification of welding conditions, study the newest technological solutions of spot and projection resistance welding of difficult to weld materials, learn computer techniques aiding selection of welding parameters, meet possibility to analyze effect occurring during welding basing on recording of process by use of special research devices, to conduct research works into weldability of modern materials by the use of different resistance welding machines equipped with control and registration devices, conduct investigation into friction welding process, study methods of numerical modeling of welding processes with regard to the influence of difficult welding conditions on the quality of welding with use of computer simulation (modeling of process with FEM computer programs), practically test and verify results of theoretical analysis.
