Project objective

From natural product synthesis to drug design The School of Chemistry of the Queen's University of Belfast invites doctoral students from EU Member States and Associated States to participate in a Marie Curie training programme in the Organic Synthesis and Biological Chemistry (OSBC) group. In a six-month stay you will perform research at the forefront of synthesis of biologically relevant molecules including natural products and drug candidates. You will receive a comprehensive training in modern synthetic methods and in the techniques of spectroscopy, chromatography and computer modelling. It is also probable that some training can be provided in the methodology of biological evaluation. There will be the opportunity to follow full modules of postgraduate lectures in advanced organic synthesis and medicinal chemistry given by members of the OSBC group. The School of Chemistry offers newly refurbished laboratory accommodation and state-of-the-art spectroscopic equipment.In addition, Queen's University of Belfast offers excellent housing facilities for temporary guests, within walking distance of the city of Belfast.
