Therapeutic angiogenesis for the treatment of diabetes-induced vascular complications

Project objective

The National Laboratory of the National Institute of Biostructures and Biosystems (INBB) is recruiting two scientists who will be engaged in:1) expanding manufacturing facility to provide pre-clinical grade adenovirus (AV), adeno-associated virus (AAV) and lentivirus (LV) vectors for novel gene therapy and2) harvesting, selecting and enriching endothelial cell progenitors from human peripheral blood. These individuals will be responsible for providing such vectors and cells that will be used to promote therapeutic angiogenesis in animal models of diabetes-induced microangiopathy and peripheral neuropathy. The scientist in charge of gene transfer systems will oversee ongoing viral production and implement new scale up and purification techniques for AAV, AV and other vectors suitable for human tissue kallikrein, NGF, and eNOS transgene delivery. The scientist in charge of endothelial cell progenitors will be responsible of isolation of CD34+ KDR+ cells from human blood in quantities sufficient for in vivo experiments in animal models. Both scientists will need experience in molecular biology, virology, and cell biology. For endothelial cell progenitor program, competence in hematology is required. Both positions require a PhD or at least 4-year post-graduate experience in the above areas.
