Project objective
This research project is grounded on previous work carried out by the candidate on economic globalisation and the sociology of migration in Southern Europe, Morocco and Albania. The aim of the project is to investigate, via field research, the dynamics of globalisation and migration with particular reference to the Mediterranean region. To do so the work will be divided into two main sections: the analysis of two case studies in border cities of Morocco and Albania, already built as work already in progress, and the analysis of a third case study, Istanbul. Afterwards an integrated approach of to both sets of analysis will be considered in order to identify the main criteria for examining the role of border cities in the Western Mediterranean region.
