Project objective
The assessment of fatigue life is a very important point in engineering design since most of the elements are subjected to multiaxial dynamic loading, which causes fatigue process. Many multiaxial fatigue failure criteria have been formulated to calculate the fatigue life. The stress-strain relationship (plasticity model) under multiaxial loading is very often required in these criteria. Many of the dynamic loading has the stochastic and multiaxial character.Dealing with such a loading is not easy task and many fatigue failure criteria and plasticity models were proposed and verified only in the case of cyclic loading. At present, there is a tendency and a need to modify already proposed fatigue models to the field of random loading. The well-known plasticity models are complicated in numerical calculation, which result in problems of stability even under non-proportional cyclic loading. There is a lack of experimental data concerning random loading, which could be used to verify the usability of plasticity models.Plasticity models are usually based on the yield criterion of Huber-Mises-Hencky, which give uncorrected results for non-proportional loading. Huber-Mises-Hencky hypothesis failed in fatigue life calculation as well. Satisfactory results in fatigue life calculation were obtained through the critical plane approach.Hence, it seems that the critical plane approach is likely to succeed in the area of plasticity models. The general aim of the project is to provide a possibility to reach a position of professional maturity and independence (habilitation) for the young researcher. The aim of the project will be achieve by:- advanced training in the field of plasticity models;- experimental research in the field of random loading in order to verify an existing plasticity models;- building a simple plasticity model based on the critical plane approach and its verification;- development of the international cooperation.
