Project objective

The ultimate goal of this research is to develop reliable chemical methodology that can allow the modification of specific amino acid side-chains in peptides in a highly divergent manner providing access to a wide variety of mutants" containing non-natural amino acids at a specific site from a single precursor. The approach will involve the preparation of a variety of boron-containing amino acids, either as precursors, or by derivatisation of existing amino acid residues in peptide chains, and then use of the Suzuki reaction to introduce the desired non-natural side-chains."
