Project objective
The study of holographic duals has yielded and will continue to yield very interesting information about the structure of string theory and gauge theory. Within this setting, the ultimate goals of this project are the following:(1) to explore the phase structure of near-external branes (in the presence of compact directions) and the consequences of this structure for thermal physics of non-gravitational theories,(2) to obtain more information about the structure of Little String Theories and non -critical super-strings by analysing the dynamics of D-branes in the vicinity of NS5-branes using exact boundary conformal field theory methods, and(3) to analyse the topological sector of Little String Theories and the nature of some closely related o pen/closed string dualities by studying the properties of topological non-critical super-strings.
