Project objective

For the second Researchers' night", 9 partners from the "French Hexagon" want to share their human and scientific richness. Thus researchers working in French universities and research centres will be at the core of the events during the evening of the 22nd of September 2006, in 11 towns in France. Music and theatre events, offered by researchers themselves, will make the public discover that these sometimes "unreachable" persons are in fact people like any other.Meetings with researchers in unusual place s, such as cafés, pubs or historical buildings, will demonstrate that researchers are among usual customers. Workshops and original museum visits will open the doors to understanding daily scientific work. Viewings, discussions and debates will allow anyone to express himself about the image of researchers and their role in our everyday life. Some special activities will be provided for young people and children to help them discover, beyond the myth, the real face of science makers.In order to exalt multiplicity and complementarity of researchers throughout France, an 18-portrait exhibition will be offered simultaneously by each of the 9 partners. In this exhibition, 18 researchers from the 9 partners will be photographed and will explain the sense of their researcher's life. A special attention will be paid to making the diversity of the researchers visible, with different topics, but also different ages, sexes, origins or "curriculum vitae" being represented.Most of these researchers will participate to activities during the events of the night, making them accessible for the public in parallel of the exhibition. A common graphic design will be created by the coordinator in order to provide a visual homogeneity all around the French territory for the communication campaign towards national and regional media."
