Project objective

Scientific research and its achievements are no longer merely an abstract intellectual pursuit... but a central factor... in the life of every civilized people... (David Ben-Gurion, 1962) The Israel researchers night will take place on the 19th of September 2006 in seven locations across Israel, it will involve 150 researchers and aim to reach 15,000 members of the public.The main aim of this project is to put research and researchers into the spotlight of the general public to enhance, strengthen and pre sent, in an exciting fashion, the rich cultural heritage of science in Israel and the European Union; enhancing science literacy among Israelis of all ages; and attracting and encouraging youngsters to pursue studies and later on, opt for a career in science and technology; render science and technology accessible and enjoyable to Israelis of all backgrounds.Reinforce interactive encounters not only with science educators, exhibits and hands-on experimentation, but also provide an opportunity for lively, informal interchange, between scientists/researchers and the general public of all ages.
