The PASIFIC Programme (Polish Academy of Sciences’ Individual Fellowships: Innovation & Creativity) offered attractive 2-year postdoctoral fellowships at one of the Polish Academy of Sciences Institutes. It was open to excellent scholars worldwide representing all scientific disciplines, with a PhD or at least 4 years of documented equivalent research experience. Fellows were selected through a merit-based evaluation process conducted by international experts. Successful candidates came to Poland for 24 months to conduct their research at the Institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The duration of the PASIFIC programme was 5 years (1 March 2020 – 28 February 2025). The aim of the PASIFIC Programme was to enable scholars to establish their scientific independence and carry out ground-breaking research. The Programme was based on individual-driven mobility and the fellows were free to choose their research area, research supervisor and the host institute. The fellows were offered the following opportunities: individual scientific mentoring under the supervision of an experienced advisor and the possibility to elaborate a Career Development Plan, the enhancement of scientific and transferable skills through a rich training offer, the possibility to gain experience in the non-academic sector through secondments and short visits (optional), networking opportunities with other fellows and the scientific environment in Poland (networking events), as well as the opportunity to conduct interdisciplinary research. The Programme aimed to benefit the Polish Academy of Sciences and its research institutes. More specifically, the objectives were: 1) to enhance the internationalization of the Polish Academy of Sciences, 2) to strengthen the research staff at the institutes of the PAS, 3) to further develop collaboration between the PAS and other research institutions, 4) to strengthen the cooperation between the PAS and the non-academic sector, 5) to provide support to the PAS administration (PASIFIC networks), 6) to acquire experience in planning and attracting international mobility programmes and to build on this experience to host international researchers at the institutes of the PAS in the future.

Цел на проекта

PASIFIC is a new Fellowship Programme, which will offer 50 prestigious two-year postdoctoral fellowships for incoming mobility. The Programme foresees the publication of two calls over the 60 months of its duration. It will provide excellent researchers from all over the world with research and complementary skills as well as transferable skills training of highest international standards that will help them to advance their scientific careers within a chosen sector, across academia, industry or a public sector. Each fellow will be hosted at one of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAS), which is the largest and most important Polish research organisation research institutes. The PASIFIC programme will be based on individual-driven mobility. The applicants will have freedom to choose their research area, supervisor, and secondment organisation, best suited to their individual research and career development. The programme is addressed to experienced researchers (PhD holders or researchers with at least 4 years of comparable experience). Applicants must comply with the MSCA mobility rules. The fellowships offer attractive conditions and provide participating researchers with access to the facilities and resources of the network of PAS institutes. Successful candidates will be provided with all the necessities for developing their project in the vibrant and dynamic environment of PAS, allowing them to take the next step in building their research profile and plot the best course for their future career. Fellows will be offered a living and mobility allowance 4125 EUR monthly , a family allowance (300 EUR monthly). Additionally, a host institution will benefit from hosting the researchers and will receive a maximum budget of 60 000 EUR for research costs directly linked with the fellow’s work plan and indirect costs set as 20% direct costs of the project.
