Цел на проекта
Scientific research is often facing difficulties in reaching the general public. A key element of One Health framework is Plant health. Despite its important and critical role in food security, biodiversity protection, climate resilience, and increasingly impact on crops, ecosystems, and trade, often go unnoticed by the general public. Unlike other environmental or health-related issues, plant health receives less attention in education and media. As a result, people are often unaware that their everyday habits can contribute to plant health risks. This lack of awareness weakens prevention efforts, delays early detection of new incursions, and leads to reduced support for science-based policy measures. Promoting plant health is essential for reaching the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals on reducing hunger and malnutrition, poverty and the effects of climate change. Human activity and climate change have contributed to a loss in biodiversity and have changed ecosystems, creating new opportunities for pests to invade. International trade and travel also facilitate the spread of pests and diseases. Thus, the PlantHealth4ALL project will bridge the gap between plant health research and public understanding, bringing science and researchers closer to the public and will demonstrate how Plant Health is the cornerstone of the One Health framework and will highlight the role of science in society and the significance of science in the daily lives of EU citizens in terms of food safety, food security, biodiversity, agricultural resilience and environmental sustainability.
