Цел на проекта

Science has a unique potential to address pressing societal, technological, and environmental challenges, yet access to scientific knowledge and engagement in research remain uneven in regions like North Macedonia and the Western Balkans. This high-impact proposal is anchored by a consortium of highly relevant institutions, including the country’s largest and most renowned universities and leading research organisations. Their combined expertise ensures broad national reach and sectoral excellence. GREENSTARS aims to bring science and research closer to schools, students and citizens. The project promotes a culture of scientific thinking, challenges stereotypes about scientific careers, and emphasises inclusive and accessible science. The workplan is decentralised across three main locations in North Macedonia, Skopje, Bitola, and Shtip, with a special focus on sustainability, technology, innovation and inclusivity. The proposal includes two European Researchers' Nights and school-based activities, designed to reach more than 30,000 citizens during the project's lifetime. Specific objectives guiding the GREENSTARS include: facilitating direct researcher-public interaction, increasing youth participation in STEAM fields, raising awareness of EU research and innovation, and enhancing inclusivity and diversity in science. The project is guided by the motto “Science shines in every star”, motivating youth and citizens to actively participate in shaping a better quality of life through science, while also encouraging researchers to share their work in ways that are accessible, engaging, and meaningful to the public. By implementing over 200 activities, GREENSTARS will strengthen public trust in science, raise the national and European visibility of research, and foster a robust bridge between science and society. This action aligns with both national and EU policy priorities by decentralising scientific engagement and supporting underrepresented groups.
