Накратко на български

Асиметричният радикален катализ изследва начини за създаване на специфични пространствени форми на молекули, например при синтеза на лекарства. Това помага за по-прецизното производство на фармацевтични продукти, химикали и нови материали.

Цел на проекта

Asymmetric radical catalysis is an emerging frontier in chemistry, with great potential for the synthesis of chiral compounds across pharmaceuticals, fine chemicals and materials science. RADICALLY is a doctoral network designed to address timely challenges of asymmetric catalysis applied to radical chemistry by fostering a collaborative research environment spanning academia, industry and start-ups. The network integrates experimental and computational expertise in transition metal catalysis, organocatalysis and enzymatic catalysis, to train 11 doctoral candidates in cutting-edge asymmetric synthesis from every possible perspective. The research goals include the design of novel catalytic systems, the development of enantioselective radical reactions, mechanistic studies to elucidate stereocontrol pathways and the application of these methods in industrially relevant contexts. The program’s intersectoral nature ensures exposure to advanced technologies such as photoredox catalysis, electrosynthesis and AI.Industrial partners provide insights into practical applications, complementing the groundbreaking research. The proposal features five interconnected research work packages focusing on the enantioselective formation of complex targets, catalyst design, mechanistic investigations and enabling technologies for industrial integration. Projects range from asymmetric intermolecular alkenes and C-H functionalizations, to enzymatic organoboron chemistry and electrocatalysis, with secondments across partner institutions to promote interdisciplinary collaborations.RADICALLY’s “training through research” philosophy equips DCs with diverse skills, bridging academic excellence and industrial innovation, and positioning them to advance the field of asymmetric catalysis. This initiative not only aims to establish a robust framework for producing chiral molecules, but also aspires to solidify asymmetric radical catalysis as a transformative tool in synthetic chemistry.
