Цел на проекта

The CE4Space Doctoral Network is pioneering the Circular Economy (CE) for Space, transforming the current high-risk, linear space model into one of reuse, recycling, and remanufacturing. Its ambitious research defines new satellite design paradigm with eco-design rules, develops autonomous lunar construction using regolith, achieves a new standard for collision avoidance via highly accurate, AI-enabled Space Situational Awareness, advanced robotics for in-orbit manufacturing and servicing coupled with resilient supply chains, competitive business models, regional innovation ecosystem development, geo-political risk assessment and forming of legal frameworks. It resolves fundamental, open problems in technical, economic, and regulatory Space-related domains. CE4Space will charge European space competitiveness, leading to the emergence of new space market niches and business models. The technological solutions developed will drastically reduce launch costs and the carbon footprint by avoiding materials transport from Earth. The Doctoral projects will provide crucial policy guidance on the recovery and reuse of materials in Space, safeguarding of the orbital commons, and lower the environmental impact on Earth by limiting primary raw material exploitation. CE4Space will enhance public understanding of space sustainability and champion increased inclusivity in STEM disciplines.Success is ensured through a world-class consortium of leading experts in engineering, computer science, law, and business, ensuring practical implementation of results. Its unique, multidisciplinary training program is fortified by robust joint supervision and relevant corporate secondments, cultivating the future Space CE leaders equipped with a combination of technical and transferable skills. The tailored training, anchored in ResearchComp, includes 15 unique research-based courses, 14 transferable skills courses to complement the doctoral programmes, offered by the partnering universities.
