Цел на проекта

Obesity, diabetes and associated complications constitute a rapidly escalating scientific and societal challenge across Europe marked by profound heterogeneity in causes, clinical trajectories and treatment responses. This heterogeneity explains the limited effectiveness of standardized therapies and highlights the need to stratify metabolic disease. To confront this challenge, MEDIculous REMeDy brings together a pan-European, interdisciplinary doctoral network spanning academia, healthcare, industry, public and patient organizations. The network’s first objective is to train critical and entrepreneurial metabolic health researchers through innovative interdisciplinary, translational and intersectoral training focused on tailored career development, transferable skills and leadership. Gender-responsive research design, open science, public and patient engagement underpin this training culture, equipping DCs with essential skills for academic and non-academic careers. These early-career researchers will drive – and be shaped by – our scientific objectives: (1) to map metabolic disease heterogeneity across the full disease spectrum from early metabolic dysfunction and obesity to advanced diabetes with complications, and (2) to dissect this heterogeneity from underlying molecular mechanisms to biomarkers, therapeutic targets and treatment responses. To achieve its scientific objectives, the consortium will integrate metabolic medicine and computational systems biology that draw on multi-country European patient cohorts, advanced human in vitro platforms and complementary in vivo disease models. This novel integrative strategy enables the development of robust patient stratification and personalized therapeutic approaches applicable across European populations, pushing precision medicine forward. By uniting scientific excellence, pioneering training and societal relevance, MEDIculous REMeDy transforms metabolic disease research and precision medicine across Europe.
