Накратко на български

Меден катализатор се тества за пречистване на въздуха от вредни газове, като например амоняк от птицеферми. Това помага за намаляване на неприятните миризми и вредните летливи вещества в околната среда.

Цел на проекта

The primary objective of this project is to develop a catalyst and a catalytic system which can be used to eliminate typical airborne odorous and volatile substances which are emitted from a poultry unit. These volatile substances primarily consist of NH3, SO2 H2S and some VOCs. A copper based system, CuO/AI203, has already been developed which can simultaneously remove SO2 and NOx from flue gases. CuO has the ability to catalyse the oxidation of SO2 to SO3. The CuO subsequently reacts with SO3 forming CUSO4. This material in turn exhibits good activity and selectivity in catalysing the reduction of NOx by NH3. The idea therefore is to pass NH3 over the CuO/AI203 catalyst and oxidize about half of it into NOx in the first half of the catalyst bed. In the second half of the bed the NOx and unreacted NH3 should combine together resulting in a SCR reaction. The project will involve defining the feed stock, selecting and modifying the catalysts, developing the testing conditions, Characterization and evaluation of scale up costs.
