Накратко на български
Нови метални катализатори се тестват за създаване на специфични химични съединения, като например 2-фенилпропанал. Те помагат за по-евтино и прецизно производство на чисти вещества, които се използват при създаването на лекарства.

Цел на проекта
The demand of optically pure chiral compounds for medical uses makes necessary the development of new highly selective catalysts. The use of heterogeneous catalysts, capable to operate in a continuous way, implies economical advantages. One of the reactions with considerable interest for the pharmaceutical industry is the hydroformylation of styrene to produce 2-phenylpropanal and 3-phenylpropanal (ethylbenzene is also formed by hydrogenation). The objective of this project is to prepare novel metal (platinum and platinum/tin) SiO2-supported catalysts to get, simultaneously, high selectivity to the branched aldehyde and adequate enantiomeric excess. For this purpose, the metallic surface must be modified by the adsorption of a chiral molecule [(-) DIOP]. In a second stage, the active solids will be characterized by different spectroscopic techniques (FTIR, MAS-NMR, inelastic neutron scattering and surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy) in order to determine the configuration of the modifier. This data, within activity test results, will provide valuable information to prepare catalysts of better performance.
