Research objectives and content We want to continue current studies on auto-ionization of doubly excited states and its time reversed process, dielectronic recombination (DR) which are carried out at the host institute both theoretically and experimentally. On the theoretical side, the method of complex scaling is applied to calculate resonance parameters and cross sections. Until now we have only calculated total widths, but for the | investigation of DR partial widths are important. So far, they have only been considered for some model potentials by analyzing the asymptotic behaviour of the complex scaled wave function. We will apply this concept to doubly excited states and also investigate whether I alternative approaches are possible. In addition, we will continue to investigate the structure of doubly excited resonances by expectation values using the complex scaled wave function. However, these expectation values are complex and their interpretation is in most cases not obvious and requires a deeper understanding of complex scaling. Training content (objective, benefit and expected impact) There is a close collaboration between experiment and theory in the atomic physics group of Stockholm University. Eva Lindroth and Nils Elander have a long experience in the concept and applications of complex scaling. A collaboration between the applicant and this group has already started successfully.
