Цел на проекта

Research objectives and content The main object of this study is to evaluate dose response effects of melatonin during adaptation to phase shift using the marker rhythms of endogenous melatonin (via salivary melatonin and urinary 6-sulphatoxymelatonin), salivary cortisol and core body temperature to evaluate phase position, together with sleep logs, polysomnography, actigraphy and computerized alertness, mood and performance tests This study would investigate for the first time the dose-response effects of melatonin treatment on re-entrainment after an abrupt phase advance. The proposed research will deepen our knowledge on the ability of low doses of melatonin to facilitate adaptation to phase shifts and will identify the optimal oral fast release dose for jet lag. Training content (objective benefit and expected impact) The laboratory of Prof J. Arendt is one of the leading laboratories in the research of chronobiology and so will provide an excellent and stimulating environment in which to carry out this project. This training, will give me important experience in clinic research of melatonin that, together with my present experience will help me to establish my own research in the future.
