Накратко на български

Статистическата механика на самогравитиращите системи анализира обекти като елиптични галактики и газови гиганти. Това помага да се разбере как се формират планетите и как се организират галактичните клъстери в разширяващата се вселена.

Цел на проекта

Research objectives and content This project aims at a better understanding of the statistical mechanics of self-gravitating systems with application to planet formation, galaxy structure and cosmology. My first objective is to justify a truncated model for collisionless stellar systems by solving numerically the evolution equations (accounting for incomplete relaxation) proposed during my Phd. The results will be compared to the luminosity profiles of elliptical galaxies. . A My second project is to understand the organization of galaxy clusters in an, expanding universe. I will analyze numerical experiments on hierarchical clustering to | determine whether galaxy clusters are in local equilibrium (due to violent relaxation) or undergo self-similar collapse. My third objective is to understand how giant gaseous planets such as Jupiter can form in the requested time scale of a million year. I will reexplore the core-instability" hypothesis by looking at its possible relations with the gravothermal catastrophe. This analytical work will be confronted to N-body simulations and the influence of a central vortex will be studied numerically with SPH methods. Training content (objective, benefit and expected impact) This training will bring me expertlze ln numerical simulations and give me the opportunity to confront the general results obtained during my Phd to more concrete systems such as giant gaseous planets, elliptical galaxies and clusters of galaxies.
