Цел на проекта
Research objectives and content The objectives of the proposal are the realisation and optimisation of a LIDAR system for atmosphere monitoring at Department of Ph,vsics of University of Lecce. Ihis LIDAR will be based on an excimer (KrF) laser and wavelength conversion trough Stimulated Raman Scattering. This technique will permit to use differential absorption (DIAL) to have the best determination of concentration of atmosphere components or pollutants that have absorption in the W region, like ozone or sulfure dioxide. We will utilize a commercial KrF laser, that will be modified to improve the brillance of the beam, following the specific know-how of the host institution. Raman conversion will thus be optimised using this improved beam. Backscattered radiation from the atmosphere will be collected by a 50 cm telescope, wavelength discriminated by specially conceived interference filters, and detected by a photon counting system. We plan to exploit this system for simultaneous measurements of 03 and SO2, and monitoring of pollutants like NO and NO2, aerosols, and carbonic particulates. Training content (objective, benefit and expected impact) The training objective of this return grant proposal is to apply my confirmed experience in laser physics and spectroscopy to the physics of environment in a region where this kind of experimental studies is just stardng and a public service of environment monitoring is still lacking.
